NRIs have remitted huge amount of money to India. Much of this has been for family maintenance and investment in real estate. While foreign investors invested in Indian equities and benefitted from the tailwind of democracy (political stability), demography (huge and growing middle class with increasing disposable income) and development (that is gaining the centre stage in the political discourse).
